SAP has been continuously attempting to mitigate the accurate perception that their applications take a long time to implement. SAP ASAP methodology was one of these initiatives that did nothing to speed SAP implementations. The RDS or Rapid Deployment Solution was another. The concept behind RDSs was that SAP would package up a series of assistive documents, demos, etc…that would give the impression of enabling implementation teams to implement SAP that previously was the case. One might wonder, if each of these methods or tools work, why are new methods continually introduced by SAP? You will learn how accurate SAP was on its claims of the RDS speeding implementations.

What is the Truth About Rapid Deployment Solutions Speeding Implementations?
We spent analyzing RDSs in the article How to Understand the Faux SAP RDS. They concluded that they were not only not helpful (and we would know as we are experienced implementers) but that they would give customers a false impression about how fast SAP could be implemented. This was their primary intent all along as we estimated that they were developed out of sale and marketing at SAP, not out of consulting.
