Understanding the EWM Quality Inspection Engine
Executive Summary
- The QIE or Quality Inspection Engine is part of SAP QM. It supports quality inspection, which connects to EWM, which increases the functionality of both EWM and QM or Quality Management.
QIE – Quality Inspection Engine
This is a more advanced side of QM, which is integrated to EWM (sits on SCM and not SAP SCM box). Currently, QIE can only be used for inbound processing.
- Inspection object types are where inspection documents can be created.
- Inspection rules are created and assigned to the inspection object types (inbound delivery, product, batch, HU, etc..)
- Follow up actions are used to trigger follow up processes such as putaway, scrapping, stock transfer, or return delivery. There can be more than one inspection per item (for instance, checking at different steps in the warehouse process)
- Counting is used to ensure consistency between quantities entered and actual quantities. (Explicitly and Implicit counting are the two types of counting)
- Explicit counting requires the use of a work center called a counting station.
- Implicit counting is simply part of the warehouse task processing. It does not use counting stations. It is also only used for non HU product quantities.
As RFID is increasingly the method of performing inbound quantity checking, QIE relies upon information from the SAP Auto-ID infrastructure, which is described in the article.
This presentation illustrates the problems with SAP support and how Brightwork SAP Support addresses these shortcomings.
What Kind of Support is This?
If this does not sound like standard support, you are right. And that is the point.
We designed our support to help our customers get the most out of SAP, not maximize our margin or try to protect previous sales inaccuracies. We know how to get your SAP applications working better.
