The following links are to manuals for the IBM 704. The machine was interesting in that both FORTRAN and LISP languages were first developed for the 704. It was also the first computer to synthesize speech. The 704 manual declares “production scheduling and control, econometrics, logistics, procurement and supply” and problems which could be solved with it.
