Applications in every enterprise software category can be implemented using any amount of its functionality. Accessing more advanced areas of functionality increases project risk from at least two dimensions.

• First, the functionality itself is more complex, which can mean it is less reliable.
• Second, complex functionality can stretch the skill level of the consultants.
• Third, complex functionality can be more difficult for users to understand.
